TRANSFER FROM OTHER
SCHOOLS
Policy Concerning Transfer
Students
from Other Schools of Nursing
Seeking Admission
to the Undergraduate Nursing Program
- Students are not encouraged to
transfer from their Schools of Nursing, if possible, unless they are at
least "B" level students in their academic and clinical studies.
However, students will be evaluated on an individual basis. Students with a
grade index below 2.5 will not be considered for transfer from outside the
Purdue system.
- Students requesting transfer status to
the School of Nursing at Purdue University Calumet must submit the following
credentials to Professor Gail Wegner in the School of Nursing:
a) A letter of good standing from your
original School of Nursing, Dean or Director. The letter should include if
they are eligible for return to enrollment in the school and an explanation of
the nature of the problem for a grade lower than a C in a nursing theory or
clinical course.
b) A complete current academic grade
transcript.
- Students eligible for admission will
be put on a waiting list for the semester in which they wish to transfer at
an advanced placement level. Students will be selected on a competitive
academic basis for the nursing openings which become available. A letter of
intent stating the semester in which you wish to begin your studies should
be placed on file in the nursing office.
- Challenge examinations may be used to
help determine appropriate placement of the transfer student.
